January 15, 2024

Boal & Co has announced two new appointments in addition to the promotion of a key team member at its Isle of Man headquarters.

Michiel Erasmus joins the team as an Actuary. Enhancing Boal & Co’s dedicated Actuarial department, he takes responsibility for providing in-house actuarial support for Boal & Co’s pension administration and trustee teams in addition to risk-based capital reporting for life and non-life insurance companies. Previously a consultant for a South African actuarial firm, Michiel recently relocated to the Isle of Man to commence the role with Boal & Co.

Semanthe Beyleveldt joins the company as a Software Developer to strengthen the Group’s IT and development team. Her remit includes developing and maintaining Boal & Co’s proprietary systems and supporting the teams across the Group with technical issues and system requirements. A member of Boal & Co’s Group Operational Committees, Semanthe is also involved with project management as well as a wide range of IT support functions. She joins Boal & Co from an Isle of Man based IT gaming company where she held the position of IT Software Engineer.

Meanwhile, Sara Vaughan has been promoted to Head of Operations. Having joined Boal & Co in 2018, Sara managed Boal & Co’s Isle of Man Group Personal Pension offering for several years as well as being instrumental in the development of the Group’s operational and business change processes.

Her expanded remit involves taking responsibility for the delivery of services across Boal & Co’s personal and corporate teams. Working closely with each of the teams, Sara will seek to refine the alignment of operational processes and procedures while maintaining a key role in Boal & Co’s operational and business change team.

Karen Kelly, Group General Manager, commented:

'This is an exciting time for Boal & Co as we continue to grow and evolve our teams to ensure operational efficiency and, most importantly, consistency in our top-level service to our clients and scheme members, both locally and internationally.

'Sara’s promotion is a positive development in our efforts to streamline and improve processes and work more collaboratively across the teams as they grow.

'I am also delighted to welcome Michiel and Semanthe to the team. Michiel’s appointment further strengthens our essential in-house actuarial capability; a function that we are incredibly proud of, and Semanthe has hit the ground running with the project management and development of new back-end systems which will take us to the next level in operational efficiency and will ensure we have the best possible systems to support our market leading offering.'

Boal & Co currently employs 44 staff across the Isle of Man and Gibraltar; 42 of which are based at its Headquarters in the Isle of Man.
